Default Where to get Pine Squirrel Strips

So as not to hijack the Slumpbuster thread below, I really like the pattern and would like to tie some. I don't have pine squirrel strips so as usual, went on the quest to try and find them. Well, googling around got me some hits for exactly what I wanted but the shipping to Canada was absolutely absurd, I mean like between $20 and $50 to get a package of them shipped internationally from the US!!!!!!!!!! They could easily fit in an envelope with a stamp on it!!!! So, I gave up.

Does anyone have any sources for these strips in Canada? or a company in the US that will ship US Postal for a more realistic cost?

    Thanks, Dwight

Check TCO Flyshop. Was just looking at them yesterday in their State College store.

You might try Superfly in Canada. They show half skins dyed. Or you can call them toll free for info.

Don't know if they have squirrel but here are few site from the first 2 pages of searching Google for "Canada fly tying supplies". Should not be too difficult to find a Canadian based web site for Fly Tying supplies.

Bass Pro shops also sells them but don't know if they ship to Canada. Also, Phil Lilly's shop in Branson,Mo sells them. He has a web site you can find through google. Again, not sure if he will ship to Canada or not but I imagine he would.

    DBenner,

Or.....you could ask one of your FAOL buddies to snag a couple packs and send them up to you. Maybe do a materials trade or something. Just a thought.

I swapped with a fellow fly tyer from the Great White North a few times and shipping back and forth across the Canada/US border is a pain in back side, H3ll you cant even travel to/from the US & Canada without a passport now. And you just cant slap a few stamps on a package and drop in the mail. You have to fill out a Customs Declaration form at the P.O.when you have it weighed at the P.O.

I would just order from an in-country source for the same reason I myself in the US would not order internationally unless it's a last resort.
