My wife and I are trying to plan a short summer get-away for June. Don't have a lot of time with our youngest son's wedding coming up in July, and a long honey-do list that has to be done before then. But once school is out, we just need a little "us" time. Read an article in Eastern Fly Fishing about the Root River in Minnesota, and thought that it sounds pretty good. It's close, so it won't take a lot of travel time. Not only does it have fishing for me, but there looks to be some neat history and art in the area as well, which my wife likes. We are looking at staying in or near Preston, Lanesboro, and Rushford.

Anybody have any knowledge or experience in the area? Good places to stay, good places to eat at, and anything special we should make a point to see? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
