Hi Normand,
Those are absolutely great foam bugs. While I firmly believe that foam is wasted on anything but a Gurgle Pop, I believe that I'm going to have to tie up a dozen of those if I can find similar foam. Take care! 8T
Very nice!
Now for a question that I have been asking for years now and have yet to get a positive answer to: Does anyone have a source for firm open-cell foam? Back in "the old timey days", Herter's sold both closed-cell and open-cell foam spider bodies. The open-cell body would begin soaking up water as soon as it hit the surface and almost immediately started to slowly sink. This body, coupled with their 'fine' rubber legging material, made an absolutely deadly bream bug, as the sinking caused the legs to 'wiggle' with more sex-appeal than a Greek belly dancer. After all of these years, I still have an ample supply of the legging material, but can't find the appropriate type foam for the bodies. I have looked at synthetic kitchen sponges, but the air cells in the ones I have seen are much larger than those in the old Herter's bodies, which definitely precludes using them for the smaller sized bugs. Any help in locating an appropriate foam would be greatly appreciated.
