I just heard a few minutes ago on the 6 PM NYC news that Curt Gowdy passed away this afternoon
in FLA at age 86 of Lukemia.
A true American Sportsman, he will be missed.
One helluva flyfisher, too.

Always liked watching him and his son fishing on the tv shows.
He stayed w/ it for a long time.....
Yes it is a sad passing, But he will live on in the hearts of all sox fans and those in the fishing community.
He lived life to the fullest and our sympathy goes out to all the families involved in this great loss.
With a heavy heart

Excus my spelling and gramma, I hooked Mondays and Fridays so I could Hunt or fish.
Excuse my spelling and grammar, I hooked Mondays and Fridays to either fish or hunt.
Another of the great ones gone. There are not many left. Very sad.
I'm thinking happy thoughts of him, and celebrate a life well lived. A true sportsman who shared so much with us, he left a legacy of having introduced so many to the outdoor sports, in a way not often seen - past or present. To me, who grew up watching him on TV, he was the epitome of what a sportsman should be. I'm happy he had such a wonderful and fulfilling life. God Bless Him!

Sad. Very sad. I always wanted to flyfish the Yellowstone from a drift boat with Curt Gowdy. The stories he could have shared would have filled volumes.

...yeah...what all have said...another one of the good guys

"..so many fish, so many flies..do I have enough time?"
...so many boo rods, so many trout....do I have enough time?...
A great person. A nice guy and a son of Wyoming.
He was kind enough to take the cross country team from the U of Wyoming ( 6 of us) flyfishing on the plains lakes outside Laramie. I've loved flyfishing ever since. A personal loss.

I have a number of his shows taped from the past years when fly fishing was popular on ESPN and OLN. He and Trevor used to have a ball together.
My favorite is Trevor and Joan Wulff in Patagonia which Curt narrates.
Now all we can watch is nimrods blasting Bambi or wannabe's ripping the lips off of LMB!
Sad news. Here's a link to check out
