Default Targus Gary Borger Pro Series fly rods?

I note that Sierra Trading Post is carrying Targus Gary Border Pro Series fly rods. Has anyone fished or cast them? Have any opinion? Are they light or heavy? What type of action? Decent fit and finish?

    Many thanks.

    I have 5 of them, 4 to 9 wts.

Do a google search and you'll come up with casting reports. They are fantastic casting rods with a moderately fast action. Not super fast and not slow either. They are light rods and come with 2 tips. So you get 5 pcs of a 4 pc rod.

Thanks, Silver Creek! I really appreciate your input, since feedback on this rod seems to be quite scarce.

Gary Borger has never put his name on anything that was less than first class. Not ever.

Glad you like the rod. Like I said I own 6 of the Pro Series fly rods.

There is a Light line Series of fly rods as well and I initially bought the 7.5 ft 3 wt, the 8.0 ft 4 wt and the 8.5 ft 5 wt rods. They are 4 pc. rods that come with 5 pieces, the extra piece is an extra tip section.

These are my primary fly rods for fishing the small streams of Wisconsin. I like the rods so much that I had Gary get me a spare 3 wt and 4 wts. They are a softer action than the pro series rod but boy can they sling line. Photos below

Gary as we test casted the prototypes in his back yard.

From your photos, it looks like the Light Touch series comes with an aluminum rod tube. The Pro Series 10-wt came with a cordura-over-PVC tube; still quite adequate. And of course it came with two tip sections (maybe that fact constitutes the "warranty"; I've emailed Targus about the warranty, but haven't received an answer yet.)

I contacted Targus about the warranty on this rod, asking whether I need to register it with the manufacturer. This is the reply I received, quite promptly:

John, no need to do anything unless it breaks. If that happens send it to us with a creditcard for $35.00 charge for fix or replacement our choice. Enjoy the rod!
