Scenario number 9
Malcolm and Ruby have just moved into a new town and are looking forward to starting the fall semester at their new high school. Their mom has a job cooking and doing the laundry in a household , but their dad, even though a talented woodworker and mechanic, can only find work in the fields on account of the color of his skin.
1957- The high school principle blocks the children's admission to the school while their fellow students hurl racial epithets.
Later that night, the family awakes to find a cross burning on their front lawn
2009- Dozens of classmates go out and buy new CDs and whole closets full of new clothes so that they they can be more like their new friends
