    Unhappy thyroid cancer

    Well folks I got some bad news today, after the doctor inserted 8 needles in to my neck I was informed I have a thyroid cancer. I find out more on monday but as of now I know surgery is involed to remove the thyroid and surounding lyphnode in my neck.well later Ghost

    Hi GrayGhost,

    I'm very sorry to hear about your medical situation. You will be in my thoughts and prayers for a rapid and complete recovery. Hang in there. Several people on this BB are long-term cancer survivors. 8T

    very sorry to hear that. at the hospital where i used to work, i managed the use of radiation, we did a lot of thyroid cases. depending on the type of cancer, 2 basic types 1 was very agressive but luckily it is not common. the other, which is most common, is very treatable using surgery and I-131 radiation thyroid ablation treatment. i don't know the exact number, but cure rates were above 90%. so take heart, fight this and get all the info you can. make sure you ask about the ablation treatment not every hospital is set up to use this treatment.
