    I did take the Elkhorn up to New Jersey over the weekend, although because of 30+ mph winds (and concomitant falling branches/limbs/trees) I didn't fish as much as I would have liked. Although I'd gone to fish in Ken Lockwood Gorge, we fished instead about 10 miles upstream in a section I'd never seen before:


    I hooked about five of these guys:

    That was the only one I had to unhook -- my preferred method of releasing a small fish is let it shake itself loose.

    Not only was it a wild fish, but probably a native to boot.

    I used a slightly heavier line on the rod -- a Rio Grand, rather than whatever Rio call their "delicate" taper, and the rod handled a team of wets in the wind quite nicely with a shorter leader and a longer line out than I'd tried the first time I tried the rod on a windy day.
