BBW's post about government policies reminded me that I wanted to follow up on a previous post. (This is in no way political because it deals with the Bureaucracy, not the government.)

A few weeks ago I mentioned that my wife of 29 years and I needed an updated copy of our marriage certificate (for the new drivers license renewal rules). Come to find out, 29 years ago, when our marriage certificate was first filed, my last name was spelled incorrectly (MERRITT instead of MERITT). We would need to file for a correction and there was an $8.00 fee.

After submitting the form and the $8.00 fee, the Bureaucracy then decided, nope, don't need a "correction", only an "amendment" and there is no charge for that. They would refund the $8.00. Cool!

When I received the check in the mail, guess what! Yep, my last name was spelled incorrectly on the check! (Again, MERRITT instead of MERITT.)

Sometimes you just have to laugh!
