Default THE FISHING TRIP - Readers Cast (Dave Micus) - March 3, 2010

    THE FISHING TRIP

The phone call at 3:15 am was an answer, not a question, and I arose knowing that Jack was dead. I picked up the receiver and on the other end of the line was my ex-sister-in-law, Sarah, calling from Chicago. "Mike," she said, ?your brother was murdered." She said it with no emotion. I'm sure, like me, she had been expecting it. She said a few more things that I didn't hear, noting only that the funeral would be in three days.

Heart wrenching. I couldn't stop reading it.
It's good to have you back Dave.

    Dave,
You have done it again. Marvelous telling of a many layered story. How have you been? It's good to see your imagination came with you west. When is the Micus' collection of short stories coming out?

Glad you finally decided to post the story. It is a great read.

Sounds like a story of life, greatly written, shared true emotion, kind of like how you would like to have your kids listen rather than face the pain of life by themselves, thanks for the insight.

    Dave,

Great job! Really good short story.

Funny the way things can work out in real life. Sad to say that there are people out there like Jack. Things tend to work out in the long run, however, I think. A friend once put it like this, that cars are not the only things recalled by their maker.

I gave Dave a bad time when I first read the story - to the effect that this is not a 'story' it is a chapter. So where is the rest of the book? He forgave me.
We do appreciate Dave's writing, a real treat.

Nicely writ Dave. Almost as good as "the wooden bowl" which I'm sure you'll remember AND, I too await "the rest ......................."
