Like some of the others I have quite a good inventory at home, but the boxes for the steam only have 3 or 4 of each pattern/size. If it happens that all 3 get lost, there is always the next size up or down, or different pattern altogether to try (if the wet fly was working - will they hit the nymph?). I too have boxes for each style (wet flies, nymphs, emergers, buggers, etc.) I have found that I am happier making a CHOICE before I hit the water and taking only 4 boxes with me - as opposed to taking everything and being both overloaded and overwhelmed. If I make a 'mistake' and take the bugger box when I should have taken the caddis box (for instance) I fish with what I brought and learn something.
