    Default Small Reels?

    Ok,
So I have a VERY nice, super short 5'6" 3Wt. rod. I'm looking to add a nice small lightweight reel to it without spending a ton of money. Any suggestions? I know that Bass Pro Shops ushers some pretty nasty comments from most users of this board, but I've seen a nice looking click and pawl reel, machined bar stock, and pretty darn small there that looks reely(pun intended) nice. Any opinions on this, or any other tiny reels to hold half of a new DT3F line and a bit of backing??

I'm with Jack. Love those Medalists.

A nice little J.R. Forbes reel would be the perfect match.

There was a write up in Flyfishing USA on ultra lite reels and rods. I can send it to you if you would like. It is very helpful and helped me with my rod and reel selection for brooktrout streams here in the Blue Ridge. Send me an email: p_potgieter@yahoo.com

will send to anyone whom may want it.

gardenfish....I'm not sure how small, just a nice quality little reel. I do however think I'd like something a little bit smaller than the Pflueger reels mentioned. Maybe something similar in size to the J.R. Forbes also mentioned. What did you have in mind?

bwagner, I too was thinking of the J. Austin Forbes Magnesium. I checked overstock.com and they are sold out. Super reel, a delightful click and well made. ANother thought would be an Orvis Rocky Mountain 3/4 if you can find one. They have the spools much like the STH reels. I have one on one of my 3 wt. rods. You have a really fun task ahead of you. Enjoy!

The Galvan Standard 2.5 I just got one with a rod I purchased at a yard sale.. its a tiny reel and is super quiet.. virtually silent on the retrieve with a quiet click when the drag is pulled out. $170.00
