    Default hit the pond today

Yesterday I took a look at the pond behind my jobsite and saw the bluegill were smacking at the surface, so today I brought my rod to work with me. At lunchtime I went up there and caught several bluegills with the yellow gurglepop. That is the best bluegill fly ever(search FAOL for gurglepop for tying instructions). I just let it sit there as long as I could stand it before twitching it. Eventually one would hit it. Caught a couple bass while I was stripping in to recast, too. I haven't caught a fish for awhile, so it made my day.

Congrats! It's been since September since I caught a bluegill... You have no idea how much I envy you! The yellow gurgler does catch fish very very well. (It will also draw the crappie up top!)

Tim, you know you exagerate. I bet that ice isn't more than 7 or 8 inches thick.
(We're looking for upper 50's here, today.)

Ed thickness really does not matter even if it is only an inch : (

It was up to about 72 degrees Monday in central California. I guess that had the pond's fishies hoping for spring. Back to normal now, in the fifties today. I went out to a big lake today but the water was murky from the inlets and I got skunked.

It's worse here in Nebraska. The 'gills are swimming below 2' of ice and 1' of snow on top of that!

The big lake here has roughly 30" of ice still on top and a fresh blanket of global warming from last night. Starting to melt a little though, highs in the 30's for the last week or so. Though I did get out on the river to chase some carp yesterday. Didn't hook up but it was nice to be out.

Ah. Bluegills on top, color me jealous!

Glad you caught fish, I haven't fished much lately around twice this winter. Hope summer gets better for me.
I believe I can fly fish
