I didn't want to hijack Lastchances thread. I have done it both ways: epoxy only on the threads, and covering the wraps onto the blank. One 4wt rod I built I intentionally barely covered only the thread, and you can just barely see the ripples of the wraps. I showed it to a friend. He said "What happened?". I said I like it that way. He likes lots of epoxy on his wraps, I don't. He likes big metallic trim wraps, I like them small. Normally I do two coats of epoxy, and I just use the minimum amount enough to get a nice smooth finish, and try to barely go onto the blank. I'm still learning.
