FLY TYING WITH CYANOACRYLATE - CA ? SUPER GLUE

Part II ? Making a Foam Fly

For many fly tyers, just thinking about using super glue is uncomfortable. It?s way out of their box. But occasionally, doing something different, is the right decision.

    good article, bob.
down here in the sunny south where bluegill, crappie, and bass are plentiful, i use just about any color of fly to catch these tasty predators of bugs.
my tying bench contains cyanoacrylic, rubber cement, and hard-as-nails. i first learned that cyano will make the hackle brittle. (after about three fish, the bug was done, no hackle) since i slice the foam down the middle with a hack saw, a small amount of cement to "block" the cyano worked great. wrapping the shank with mono also bonds the foam to the hook when cyano is applied. i use a 5wt. rod with these flies and they chunk perfectly. quite reading and go fish!
