Default Anybody here lived in or around Reno, NV?

Are high winds really a problem there? What are the best neighborhoods in terms of safety, value and easy access to shopping for the things you need?

    Many thanks!

Howdy oldfrat... I lived in Reno & Sparks in '75 and '76 while I was in college there... They called the winds you're talking about the "Washoe Zephyr"
I saw serious wind damage a couple times there. I was once driving my VW Beetle on very slick ice, and a crosswind gust blew me from the right lane right across the road to the left and against the other guardrail. Another time I was following a 28' freight trailer and saw the wind first start rocking it and then tip it right over, while it was traveling down the road right betwewen Reno and Sparks, about 20 mph. Can't help you with neighborhoods and such things have chanbged a lot in these past 30+ years.................................ModocDan

I live in Cold Springs, just north of Reno and work in Reno. Drop me a PM and we can talk. I have only been in Reno about 4 years.
