Speaking of dams.

Has Otter given up trying to get the Teton dammed ( damned ) again ?? And I believe he has proposed damning some other pretty nice rivers, while he is at it.

And, speaking of silt.

The dam on the Big Lost above MacKay is, I believe, the oldest dam in Idaho ( 1910 ). John Stenerson told me several years ago that the original reservoir above the dam is about half filled in with sediment / silt from the long reaches of the Big Lost River and its tributaries above the Mackay Reservoir. The Big Lost River tailwater is another outstanding fishery that could well be damned by remedial action.

When I commented on the original thread on Harriman and refered to some of the real threats to fisheries in Idaho, those were two of the specific cases I had in mind.

There are forces at work in Idaho that threaten things that many of us hold dear.

I wish you all well and encourage a very high level of diligence regarding what the private sector might accomplish with Otter's aid and comfort.
