What is This?

I picked this up at a yard sale and don't know what type of animal it came from. I Imagine this will be easy for some of you to ID. The strands are stiff but not so stiff that they don't make good bodies. They are not hollow. The pocket Knife is about 3.5 inches and the longest strand is about 6 inches.
