Default MICHIGAN CADDIS - Old Flies - January 04, 2010

    MICHIGAN CADDIS

Mr. Jay Neve, a commercial tyer from Michigan claims that Art Winnie is the originator of this fly pattern. There is no evidence to support that claim. According to Mr. Winnie's daughter Jeanne, this is not the caddis pattern that Art is famous for (same name, Michigan Caddis). Art Winnie most probably did tie and sell this pattern from his barber shop. It was very popular in the mid-1900's. The actual originator is unknown.

Default Reminds me of Fred Bridge

Fred is one of the Pa. tiers who uses wing burners to create spent wings. His are used on parachutes, but this fly has the same general look. I'm sure this one is very effective, as are Fred's. Good looking fly Tom. We'll have to try it at the fish-in during the hex hatch!

Is there a more in depth procedure for the "Hair Spinning?"
The sport is so royal that there is neither gentle nor villein, if it knew of it and loved it well, who would not be more honoured for that reason by all who understand it.

Al Campbell teaches hair spinning here: http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flyt...ate/part30.php
I can think of few acts more selfish than refusing a vaccination.
