Honesty, being necessary prelude to any frank discussion, I must admit right up front that I'm a fishaholic. But not like I used to be. Nope. I've got it under control these days. Ask anyone. But, don't ask my wife. With her it is safer not to broach the subject.

I'm not ashamed to say I can totally relate! Yeah, those darn beavers!!! I've been thigh deep fishing a river in the evening...stayed too long...wading back upstream after dark...and then I hear a rustle and a HUGE SPLASH between me and the nearby shore. I KNOW its a beaver...but doggone it, I can't help but entertain visions of big alligators doing exactly the same thing. Sure, there aren't SUPPOSED to be alligators in northern Illinois, right? Maybe somebody let their overgrown "pet" gator loose in the wild when it became to big to keep feeding? YIKES!

Great story, Bill! I haven't laughed this hard since my suburb-raised little brother yelled at me from the next tent that the noise we heard was SO a bear and if I didn't finally believe him, he'd tell mom on me. I think he was in his twenties at the time. It was a raccoon. He's not a big fan of deer after dark either!
