January 2010 Swap of the Month

Wow! Christmas is over. The New Year is almost here. So, its time for the fly of the month for 2010 to start up!

January's fly -- your choice of any big ol' bottom dredging nymph you care to tie. Due to me by the end of January. Please include toe tags. All the usual stuff. Please let me know what you're going to tie.

The folks who signed up for 2010 are listed below. I'd like to follow that listing in terms of who will be choosing the theme for each month. So, DManley will choose for February, sanctyphillia for March, etc. You may also want to host that month. If you don't want to host then I'll do it.

I have been unable to contact Cliff Austin. I checked and he hasn't logged in since before New Years. Therefore I'm declaring that he has dropped out of the swaps. Now we'll need someone to replace him.

Sjo's flies still haven't gotten here. I have no doubts that they were mailed. They may still be in transit. They may have been hijacked.

I'd like to suggest that we go ahead and close out this swap and get everyone their flies. Here's my proposal:

(1) I'd like to send Sjo a set of the flies since I know him to be reputable and I'd hate to punish him for the postal service's problems.
(2) If Sjo's flies show up, I'll send them to everyone with the next month's swap of the month flies.
(3) Since you all did flies that would have gone to Dave and to Cliff Austin - that means I've got two "extra" sets of flies here. I'd like to take those two extra sets and donate them. Our Trout Unlimited chapter is donating flies to "Casting for Recovery" at our next meeting in March. I'd like to give the extra sets to Casting for Recovery.

Do y'all agree with that game plan?
