    Default WARMWATER FLY-FISHING AT NIGHT - Warmwater - December 21, 2009

    WARMWATER FLY-FISHING AT NIGHT

For the last couple of years, I find I?ve been getting my fly-fishing and fish-catching fixes more and more often at night. I suppose there was something of a natural progression for me to gravitate towards this type of fishing. I?ve never been afraid of the challenge of fishing after dark. In fact, I?ve caught some nice fish, and often good numbers of fish, after the sun goes down.*here are a number of good reasons to fly-fish at night.

    Thanks!
Um... the title was mis-printed. The article obviously has nothing to do with "A Lazy Day Up Muddy Creek".
    Funny!

I agree, didn't mean to sound complaining. I'm thankful you could use what I wrote.

Default Night fished many years ago

Many years ago I night fished a trout stream in southeastern Minnesota. A couple of times a week I'd fish until about 10 p.m. My mentor and I fished three different holes and all three were shallow from where we fished to fairly deep along the other bank. All three had rapids that dropped into 3 to 4 feet -deep long holes. Used big wet flies of varying types and we were able to catch a number of large browns. Had to wear a wide brimmed hat though because the bats would come flying in so close to catch the bugs flying around your head that you could either feel or hear their wing beats. At times it was like fishing with your eyes closed and other times it was so light you had no trouble seeing. It was by far the best time to catch trophy browns!
Night fishing was always interesting and a different sort of a challenge.

    FishnDave,
I was always wondering how you made such great catches at night & now you're secrets out. Lookout fishies!
