"However, they often lead to the development of bad habits,"

I get sick and tired of so called 2 handed casting experts saying this. It is pure bull. Casting Skagit lines does not lead to bad habits. A person casting a Skagit line develops the technique needed to cast a Skagit line not a bad habit. I have seen many that learned with a long bellied line that have developed "bad habits" when they try to cast a short belly line. Neither line nor the technique to cast them are right or wrong they are two different styles and the method used for either are different not "bad habits". And to those that say it is easier. Perhaps at the shorter distances but stretch that cast out to over 100 feet and the difficulty increases right along with the distance. I have seen many that learned to cast long bellies who cannot cast a short belly with efficiency. Must have learned bad habits or something.
