I wonder if they did a blind study to reveal if it were the eggs for sure or the test procedure that was the cause of the deaths.
Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.
The attached pdf file lays out their study reasonably well. Looks like they are stepping all over themselves to NOT say anything negative about the cures. It is worth reading and I will not use sulfite cures again...
Oh, I don't use any cures!
Actually I save a ton of eggs every year for friends. I will have to point out the sulfites issue to them.

Back in the day, not that I would ever bait fish, mind you, we used to use borax for curing eggs, although I do recall dad using commercial egg cure on occasion as well.
Aren't sulfites found in wine as well, as a preservative?
Sulfides/sulfites are everywhere - lunchmeat, bacon, ham, yes red wines for sure as it is a naturally occurring substance in grapes. Up until recent years was also used as a preservative in lettuce and bagged salad mixes. Some have a severe allergy to them and have bad reactions especially when used in the salad stuff. Some states have now outlawed the use of them by restaurants...but it did keep the stuff nice and green.
I dunno. I use Glo-Bugs for fishing.
The only thing I use fish eggs for is making caviar at home.
Salmon egg caviar..............yum yum

Work is something for people that don't fish.
