This rod is a rod I built for a good friend that probably owns about as many of my rods as I do He's been by far my best customer for the past few years so I wanted to do someone special for him. Knowing that he is a big Beach Boys fan just like myself I decided to set out to build a Beach Boys themed rod. Took awhile to come up with ideas on how to make it a Beach Boys rod, but I'm really happy with the way it came out and the fact that it has the whole beach/ocean look to it with the colors I chose for it.

The blank is a 9' 5wt 2pc NOS Shikari blank. Then I used a muti colored acrylic reel seat with blues and white to give it the whole ocean/beach look. Built a custom rev half wells grip with all exotic corks and added some accent trim rings of light blue in it. Then used Royal blue for the main wraps and a lighter blue for the trim bands, topped it off with a blue inserted stripper guide and some custom printed inscriptions.

Wow, that's great! I especially like the reel seat...that water looks DEEP!
