    Default FOTW question

This emerger pattern ( very cool looking ) has horns. Do any mayflys have these ? I thought that they were a caddis thing.

2 Bead Pupa; Good point. The horns indicate that it is a Caddis Emerger. Perhaps I should have named the fly better, but here in New Zealand I guess we all know it is a caddis emerger so no sweat. Sorry for the confusion, but if you wish to fish it as an Mayfly Emerger. Leave the horns off. I believe it will still fetch a fish or two. Have Fun. Jax

I think the confusion comes from the fact that you refer "Emergers that in between stage in the hatching process when the rising body is neither Nymph nor Mayfly" which leads one to believe that this might be intended as a mayfly, even though it looks like a caddis.

Thanks Jax, I figured it was supposed to loosly resemble both: sort of an attractor. The wings look very mayfly-like, and the rest like a caddis.

Redietz; You are bang on plenty of room for confusion there. I'll claim a typo then duck and agree it should have read Caddis not Mayfly. Jax
