Has anyone cast the Hardy glass rods? I was looking at them and they looked pretty nice. Are they made in England or Totally Foreign Overseas land (i.e. China, Korea)? For the price, I'm suspecting the latter.

I have the Hardy Perfection Glass rod in a 7'6" 4#, and absolutely love it!! Mine was built in England.

I looked at the glass on the Hardy site, but didn't see the overseas part. I'll look again. Seems nice for a glass rod. I really want a Scott Fibertouch, but they don't make an 8' 5wt and they're about 200 bucks more for a rod I'll wind up fishing maybe a dozen times a year. Just gotta decide if I want instant gratification or save my pennies.
I tried out three of the Hardy glass rods on the casting pool at a show a couple of weeks ago. The 7'6" 4wt is a sweet light trout/panfish rod. The 8' 5wt will launch a WF5 60ft with no stress, smooth as you please, and roll cast the head and at least 20ft of running line, to boot. It's not as light as the 7'6" or as crisp, but it's very satisfying to cast. The only other one they had there is the 5' 2wt. It reminded me a lot of the Diamondglass 502--slow and a bit anemic--a short range specialty tool, but it would look so cute with a Flyweight reel . . . if you like to prowl the teeniest of creeks, it might be just the thing. I'm not sure, but I think the rod blanks are produced somewhere other than England, possibly New Zealand (CTS), more likely Asia. They are put together with traditional Hardy hardware and are as well-finished as any high-end rod.

Very nice rods. Smooth and accurate. I tried them all out last year. The rods are not 100% glass. Something around 10% is graphite, (but so are my T.L. Johnson Synergy's). I'm pretty sure they're made in Korea, but the workmanship is flawless. Plus they're very nicely priced.
I may be wrong...
But my understanding is they are made in the UK (England) Hardy has been very well known for excellent quality for many years. I also have the Perfection and it is well, perfect.
