    Default Guitar pick?

I have to wait between rods for my thumbnails to grow out enough to be useful thread packers again. Do you pack your threads with a tool? Has anyone tried a guitar pick on your thumb instead of your thumb nail?

guitar pick would work fine. I trim my nails so I can't use them. my favorite tool was a curved plastic 6" ruler but I lost it. used a small 45* triangle, it was ok. lately I've been using the back side of my scalpel blade on the exacto knife and think it may work best of all. try whatever you've got until you find something yer happy with.

I always used a Gudebrod thread packing tool made from teflon....but I think they went out of business..??

I take a bamboo chop stick and cut the top off leaving about 4 to 5 inches to the tip. Cut a slot in the top, then cut up one of my wife's credit cards and epoxy a 1/2" square in the slot. Works great for packing thread and the tip I use to burnish the thread. Plus it cuts my credit card expenditures way down.

I like the Gudebrod packing tool, but it "sheds" for some reason - leaves little white specks behind. I have a little bead picker thing that fits on the end of my thumg that is kind of shaped like a guitar pick is why I thought of the pick - I love things that stay attached(like thumbs). Lots of other good ideas, too.
