Default TWELVE FAVORITE DRIES - Eye of the Guide - November 16, 2009

    TWELVE FAVORITE DRIES

Tom gives us the patterns for 12 of his favorite dries. For those of you that tie, your homework is to comment with pictures of these patterns for the rest of us to enjoy. Thanks!

    Default 12 favorites

Pictures would add a lot to these instructions. Why not take advantage of the simple technology to do this? These are supposed to be instructive, not a contest of skills...

    Default Yes but...

As we stated when we first started running them, Tom had a bunch of fliers that were handed out at his classes, etc. Tom graciously is allowing us to put them on the web, but the fliers predate the easy inclusion of photos.

Hence I've been asking the tiers at FOAL that actually tie one to send in a pic of the result, so I can add it to the article. Remember FAOL is a community site and this is a great way for someone to contribute.

Hopefully someone will take pity on me and actually include some pics, at which time I will go back and modify the web page to include it. (with a caption of photo by...) Thanks...

One of the "funnest" fly tying/exchanges/swaps I was in had us tying flies from Keith Perrault's book "Standard Dictionary of Fishing Flies". No pictures. Tied 'em as we "saw" 'em. Amazing how similar the flies turned out!!

Would mention Ron, the front page indicates they are "Eric's favorite flies".

Pretty sure I love that place! We hunt antelope just north of Laramie, and the fly shop/gas station is always a stop we make. I bought a sweet little 3-wt there last trip!
