Maybe you can turn them to Grizzley with a black permanent marker.

Decided I would look at the Griffith Gnat. A quick check on Google shows all of the gnats tied with grizzly hackle.

My questions are: Has anybody tried this pattern with white hackle in lieu of grizzly?
    Comments?

    Thanks - Tim
Tim, I've tied them both ways and honestly, never noticed one difference at all. Not likely a trout will know the difference. Mine sure didn't.

I usually tie mine with dun hackle instead of the grizzly anyway. The fish dont care.

    Default Thanks

Thanks again to all for your input. After tying a couple in white and dun I think that they will work as good as the grizzly. Also tied some simple brown hackle peacock and some red ants.

Now for your laugh of the day. In a moment of sheer lunacy I bought 500 Mustad dry fly hooks, size 17, off of EBay for 5 bucks. I don't suspose I will ever use them all but I sure will give it the old college try. I must be nuts.

I DO NOT tie but from my "extensive" beating water to a froth experience, I think , in order of importance, it's: 1) PROFILE 2) SIZE 3) COLOR
