Thread: Griffin Odyssey Spider Vise

    Default Griffin Odyssey Spider Vise

What are your thoughts on the Griffin Odyssey Spider Vise? I will NOT spend more than 100.00 on a vise so please dont suggest a Dyana King and such. I really would like your impression of this vise or any other one UNDER 100.00

    Thanks for your replies!

I have one I bought used from another member. I can find no faults at all. It meets all of my needs. Nothing but thumbs up.

I was looking at the Spider a few years ago, and was about to buy one when I got a chance to buy a Griffen Montana Mongoose for a little over $100. At the time it was retailing for $175. I've been very happy with the Griffen. Quality products loaded with features at sensible prices.

I tie on a Griffin Montana Mongoose which I got at a deep discount and also on a Renzetti Traveler. Both are really well made. The Griffin has lots of features for the money and so does the Spider which I've tied on and enjoyed using. The only drawback for me is that the jaws on the Griffin are a bit cludgy for really small flies (small midges). But Griffin makes a good product that for me has been 100% reliable.

You cant go wrong with any Griffin product--Ive tied on the Odyssey Spider and cant find any feature that I didnt like. I own a 3ARP a Odyssey and seven model 2A's that I use with children. If they cant break them no one can. Some spiders on ebay for $77 BILL

I could not find anything about the DJS. I would rather buy American made products anyway. Sounds like the Griffin might be the way to go. I dont need anything fancy just a solid vise.

I have a Cabela's kit vise and a DanVise. I used to have an Odyssey Spider but I sold it. There wasn't a single thing wrong with it, I just found myself using the DanVise for everything. I think the Spider is a dandy vise and it travels well. You should be happy with one, but for me, it's the DanVise.
