    WED YOURSELF TO UGLY FLIES

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So remember the next time you are fishing that the fish might not be so enamored with that perfect fly of yours.

    Hi,

Indeed, a lot of nymph patterns, with dubbed bodies, are often more effective as they get more beat up. Leisenring and Hidy indicated that their flymphs should be tied quite messy looking, don't neaten them up.

An old fly fisher once told me to "tie what you feel." Most of the stuff you see in a fly shop is made to first catch fisher men then fish.

Most of the flies that I tie are ugly.
    Fish seems to like them.
