Default ferrules on a cane blank

I just had a cane blank come in the mail. I have built a couple rods before, but the on cane rod was a rebuild so the ferrules were already attached.
In short the ferrule seem a bit small, I assume that they should be a little undersized and the bamboo has to be trimed or sanded until a nice fit is achieved.
I need advise on what would be the best way to go about this?
    thank you: Grant

you have to fit the ferrules to the blank? ideally you'd use a lathe to lap the ferrule stations. you can fit by hand using 320 grit sandpaper cut to the depth the ferrule joins the rod. working carefully and checking the fit as you go. you'll also have to fit the male ferrule to the female...

    generally blanks are supplied ferruled.

I don't know where Yaffle got the blank from, but Hook & Hackle sell some bamboo blanks with ferrules sold separately.

    Default Hand fitting ferrules

Describing the process of correctly fitting a ferrule to a bamboo blank is more difficult than actually doing it so I won't even try. Here is a link to an excellent explanation.

Thanks for the info, I'll consider the options and see what needs to be done here.
    Thanks again....
