Was fishing on Roosevelt Lake, in the early morning hours, many summers ago, in the later part of August! The surface of the water was mirror smooth, and there were these little circles on the water surface, that I had seen almost all of my life.

It was then that I noticed for the first time, that elsewhere on the water, were these little tiny dots on the water surface. "Tricos" my thoughts shouted! I was witnessing the morning Trico hatch, as they rested on the surface.

Alas I had no Trico patterns with me, so instead I tossed out a size #14 "Orange Stimulator", not expecting any action. Next thing I knew, my fly was no longer on the surface, all I could see was a big vortex, where my fly had been a microsecond ago!

Caught a very nice size fish, I think the fish was surprised by the "Orange Stimulator", as much as I was surprised by the strike!

So that is my contribution to the "Snicker Bar Theory" chronicles. ~Parnelli
