don't have a high end bobbin...can't afford it, and my $20 garage sale regal vise might get jealous if I spent more than that on a bobbin. I did break down and buy a cheap bobbin with ceramic inserts. I like them, and appreciate them more, after using metal for a long time.

If you are using metal tubes and fraying thread constantly, go visit your auto mechanic. they have these thin, round files which easily fit in the tube and can ream out the little burrs which live in there, eating your thread.
