Best way to patch canvas ?

Have a set of canvas topped hip boots ..must have caught a briar and punched a small hole in the canvas. What's the best way to patch canvas?

small peice of canvas or cotton duck that is untreated, soak in shoe goo on both side place over ripe or hole, two peice of wax paper one inside one out side place something heavy on patch let cure for 24 hour at least. patch stayes flexable and water proff.
