Just trying to eliminate a pretty frequent source of frustration for a beginning tyer that might not know what size beads to use with what size hooks if the recipe calls for a "gold bead", what materials can be substituted for listed stuff on recipes that might be a bit easier to work with (e.g. calf body hair instead of calf tail for wings on wulffs) or less expensive (dyed mallard flank instead of wood duck), what hook models from different brands are equivalent, dry vs nymph dubbing, appropriate size/quality hackle, what size thread to use, and suggestions for other patterns that could be tied with the same materials that a beginner may not have come across.
