Default i knew it was only a matter of time ..

before soft hackles came up and i have been looking forward to it. i will do a bead head pheasant tail s.h #10.
its rare that i use s.h flies but when i do they tend not to disappoint. it will be nice to have so many to try.
    good choice Cal E Batis.

I'm going to do a chartreuse and partridge. I caught some browns with that pattern last time I was in Colorado.

Aaaaahhh! You've found my weakness. I don't know if I have ever tied a soft-hackle before.

Let me do some research on patterns, and I will get back with you on a specific pattern in a few days. Right now, what I know about soft-hackles could be written on a matchbook cover.

    This will be interesting....

Will ,this one be OK? it's a variation on one called the Bead-Head Bluegill Soft-Hackle. I just omitted the bead-head.

Hook: Cabelas Model 1 sz. 14
    Thread: black 6/0 Uni-Thread
Butt: Red mylar tinsel (left over from Christmas)
Body: Peacock hearl brush (made it myself, with a tool I got off EBay)
Hackle: Some kind of OD green barred feather I got in a Cabelas Grab Bag. (I just found out it's an India Hen Back).

0h oh. I tied a lot off these and I also fish them on the top dropper, but I have not much results with them, so I don't really have a favourite. I'll give it a thought and will then come back to you! TBD
