Interesting, wouldnt the feathers be so dry as to be useless as fly tying materials?

I woundnt think of using any feathers from this collection--you cant even use feathers from a robin. BILL

Just as there are those people who keep stolen art in there collection to look at even with out being able to show it to others I'm sure there are those who tie and collect high end flies who would jump at the chance to use the original materials to tie some patterns and wouldn't worry about it being legal or not.

This is a very sad situation and a severe loss to the scientific community. Unfortunately, fly tyers are very likely responsible either directly or indirectly. I recall two or three other museum break-ins in which bird plumage was specifically targeted. It is definitely a damn shame. 8T

Anyone who rips off a museum is a POS. For material or not this is sad.

I think i actually heard about the result of this. turns out it was Edwin Rist (brother anton rist) who are two prodigies of the classic salmon fly tying world. Ridiculous what some people will do over these hobbies...

Just read about this in Fly Tyer magazine. The article said that Mr. Rist had not yet been sentenced. Anyone have an update?
