Another Great Fly Shop Closes

Capt. Paul Darby and wife Paula closed their fly shop in Shalimar, Florida yesterday and are moving to Crystal River Fl. A great loss for all those fly fishermen in this area. Capt. Paul was a pioneer in developing fly fishing in the salt here in the panhandle, and had the only REAL fly shop in these parts. So sorry to see him moving on, a real loss to us salty FFishers. Best of luck Paul and Paula. Looking forward to fishing with y'all in Crystal River.

I'm sorry to hear of any fly shop closing especially like the one you've described.

Being a baby boomer, I just can't resist. Anyone recall the hit record in the early 60's, 'Hey Paula', by Paul & Paula? Too coincidental to pass up.

Hey Folks,

I too am very sorry to hear that Paul
has closed his shop and moved. Years ago
when I came to FAOL, I believe he was my
first contact in the Chat Room. Always a
knowledgeable contributor and somewhat of
a humorist. He spins a great story and I
have no doubt he could keep you laughing
all day. Back when I first started to work
with foamies, Paul is the one that turned me
on to the dremel bugs. The man is a walking
encyclopedia of worthwhile information. I
can only hope that this is a move up rather
than out of the fishing business. I wish
Paul and his wife all the best. I hope this
means he's finally going to write those
books he's hinted at over the years. Warm

Hey Folks,

Good news! Captain Paul came into the
chat room last night. He reports that he
and Paula came upon a great opportunity to
move thier base of operations to Crystal
River. While certain to be missed by the
folks on Florida's panhandle, their new
location about 75 miles above Tampa on the
Gulf Coast should make a lot of folks very
happy.*G* Best wishes to Paul and Paula in
