Default On line fly tying videos

One of the reasons I like the board is the information others are willing to share. Often, people include links to other websites with fly recipes, instructions, etc. when answering questions. I've added lots of those links to my "favorites" pull down menu.

I ran across this website earlier today.

    http://kwsu.org/Offers/FlyTying.aspx

It appears this public television station in Washington (State) offers a half hour fly tying program and has placed the shows on line. I haven't had a chance to view any of the videos yet. Each episode covers three flies. I think the program has been on for three or four years.

    Anyone familiar with this show?

When I first started fly fishing, but before I started fly tying, I used to catch this show every once in a while. Doesn't seem to be on anymore in Chicago.

I've run across this website and enjoy it. Recently tied the antelope mouse (my first shot at a mouse pattern - I spin well but cut ugly) from LeRoy's instructions.

    Hey, Phish.
I'm a devotee. I'll go back and watch a few videos when I need to study a technique. Last trip it was upright and divided wings. Next time, who knows.

    Thumbs up

    Hey guys,
Try this one....It isn't as extensive as the "Fly Tying, The Angler's Art" program, but it is good. The host Greg Heister is a great tier and fisherman. Best Regards.....

I think probably the best tying videos on the net...lots of differet patterns and Davie's tying skill are top notch. I've learned a lot watching his video's.

He uses a lot of Kamasan hooks (Daiichi)....a link to the equivalents.

Default Fly Tying: The Angler's Art index

I think is was Norn who turned me on to this a couple years ago. At the time the web site was set up differently and you needed a special (free) viewer you had to download to watch them. Which also meant the viewer had to download the files. Turns out it's over 14 gigabytes total (or roughly 13 episodes per DVD). NOT that I know that it took 4 DVD's to hold all these, I'm just a computer geek and 'did the math'. Yea, that it!

Mike Holt (Maine Rotary flytying) has a subscription service ($25.00 for the year). He's a great teacher, very articulate, and the videos are nicely produced. The really good thing about his stuff is that in addition to standard and varied flies, he has a good number of instructional videos on technique. As I said, not free, but worth the price.

Yep, even with highspeed/broadband 14+ GB is a lot to download!
They do play on media player now, but they can not be saved anymore.

Nice video but that boy has such a heavy accent that I can't focus on the fly tying while trying to figure out what he is saying. Looks like a nice series though.
