Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.
That's a nice size rainbow.
Trout don't speak Latin.

That should have unwound your friend for sure. Nice fishy.

The fish are always right.
Warren,
Great Rainbow. Sounds like fun was had by everyone!

Warren,
Beautiful, what appears to be a streambred? rainbow.
I fished the Elk a couple of times many years ago.
Would you mind divulging what stretch you were fishing?
Also like your rig. Nice Pflueger Medalist and what appears to be a South Bend bamboo rod?

When you can arrange your affairs to go fishing, forget all the signs, homilies, advice and folklore. JUST GO.
You're killin' me, Warren.

"Would you mind divulging what stretch you were fishing? I was fishing down from the Tim's Ford Dam about 2.5 miles. It is an area below where there is now a watercress farm.
Also like your rig. Nice Pflueger Medalist and what appears to be a South Bend bamboo rod? I really like my vintage 1494 Pflueger reels (I have three) and OnePfoot sure makes some great parts for dressing them up! The rod is a Sage Fli 5wt, 8.6" long and a 2 piece. Come fish with me anytime. Just let me know when. Prefer during the work week which gives me the river with less people. On this particular day, we were the only 2 fishing this section and it was great.

Good Morning Warren,
Thanks for the replies.
I gave my stepson that same rod as a birthday present.
Nice rod for the money! I own two old 1494's. Can't beat 'em!
Would love to get up with you and fish that stretch of river.
I'll pm you later today!

Warren,
Nice catch...I used to have access from Mr. Pierce before he sold the property to the watercress farm. Likely the best stretch of water on the Elk IMHO. Caught one of my better browns downstream from Gen. Lowes island. There is a little creek that feeds in from the left (downstream) after you hike the hill past the barn that has consistently held big fish at the confluence year after year.
Are you floating to that spot or has someone granted you access? Just curious...

Waders
