I rencently got an invitation to fish Meramec spring in Missouri, this is a stocked trout park. I am primarily a warm water fisherman with very little trout experience. So if anyone has any suggestions on what fly/nymph's to use i would greatly appreciate it. From what i have gathered so far this is a spring fed river with moderate flows and the only suggestion i have been able to find on there website is for #16 grey scuds. Arron

A Wooly Bugger works well on most trout.

I would bring along a good selection of Prince Nymph and Soft Hackles as well.

Aaron, dont worry so much about lacking experience. Took my son in law to a similar trout park over Thankgiving and he never had a fly rod in his hand before. He still managed to land over a dozen rainbows in about two hours. Might suggest a couple of each:
    Wooly Boogers (black)#14
    Soft Hackles, size #18-#20
    Cracklebacks, size #16
Dru flies, para Adams #18-20 and Blue Wing Olive #18-20, or Griffith's Gnat #18-#20
That should handle almost any situation.
    Good Luck,

    prince nymphs
    gold ribbed hares ear
    pheasant tail nymphs

They are pretty universal nymphs. Also wooly buggers.

    Arron,

I grew up not far from Maramec Springs. I used to fish there a couple times a week.

As far as the winter fishing, you probably wont see a lot of top water action. (Unless it's a particularly nice day.)

I would use buggers, hare's ear nymphs, cracklebacks, small bead head midges, scuds, and maybe some softhacles if you see them not far under the surface.

There's a hole that has a bathroom close to it. That might just be the most productive hole in the park.

If you're there the whole day, you will have enough time to fish the entire park. (from the bridge you can drive over down to the foot bridge at the end of the park)
