Default What would you ask Coach Knight?

    Please be fly fishing related.
He has been all over the world trout fishing.
No chair comments or sour grapes...

I know i am going to ask him where his favorite stream in the WORLD is?

This may sound silly, but I have long admired him for his CHARACTER & PRINCIPLES. Had my son had the basketball ability, I would have prayed that he play for Coach Bobby Knight.
That being said, I would ask him if I could fish with him...I don't care where, just to share his water would be a treat & an honor.

    Default Coach Knight

I am also a huge Knight fan. My dad grew up in Washington IN and I grew up a Hoosier fan. If i could ask him one question it would be 'what are the similarities between fishing and coaching basketball?'

I remember an old episode of The Fishin' Hole where the Coach and Jerry were salmon fishing with my hero Ted Williams.
I'd like to know his impression of the great Teddy Ballgame
The simpler the outfit, the more skill it takes to manage it, and the more pleasure one gets in his achievements.

Coach lived in Indiana--I live in Indiana and I know his favorite bluegill pond. Ask him if he would tell you where LARY EDWARDS POND IS. He loves to fish for big gills.
Im not a INDIANA COLLEGE fan I root for the other great school PURDUE. BILL

I'd ask Coach Knight where he never wishes to fish again?
Also, why flyfishing appeals to him?
And then I'd ask him if he would fish with a rod wrapped in Carolina blue silk?

When you can arrange your affairs to go fishing, forget all the signs, homilies, advice and folklore. JUST GO.

He is speaking here in Wisconsin for FREE
at a Cancer Benefit next month. I am hoping
to get out with him a couple days when he is here.
Will ask him some questions when we fish.

He has some custom ARI rod and reel he typically uses. Didn't see any light blue in it.

I think I would ask him to tell some stories about Curt Gowdy. Knight never did much for me but Gowdy was a true gentleman and a great sports caster. I believe they were fishing buddies for years.

    Default Curt Gowdy

Curt Gowdy Parametric 6/7 weight fiberglass.
Have one of those in my closet. Was given to me
as a gift by a friend. Is a little soft for my liking but
    it works well.

Never had the pleasure but I talked to a guy who fished out of the same camp with him. Said he couldn't have been more cordial and kept them in stiches most of the time. They said he made a statement to the effect - "I don't care if I win more basketball games than any coach in history. I just want to catch more fish than any other basketball coach in history."

Ask him if he thinks he made it.
