the Colorado XT pontoon that Cabelas carries. Anyone have any experience with this model and what are ya'lls opinions?

personally, I would only consider it for still waters.

I was only plannin on using it in still waters and slow moving creeks and rivers such as the Brazos River here in Texas.

    Default Pontoon

If you are talking about the one by Trout Unlimited, I have it but not the XL. I like it. It is very stable and works great for any river I have been on in Michigan. It does take a little work to get the hang of inflating the pontoons though. As far as using it for still water, you would be doing a lot of rowing unless you are planning on using kick fins too. I have found it works best in moderate speed rivers. Hope this helps.

i had actually planned to put a small transom mount trolloing motor on it later on but yeah that helps. I believe it is the one from Trout unlimited. I know its the Bright Orange one in the Cabelas catolog, haha. Im fairly new to the idea so i dont know a lot.

    Quade,
I own older version of this boat, good friend owns a newer version. His has improved bladder/inflation mechanism from the one I own. Have never had it on still water but has been on many streams. Love the stability, storage and the big rear rack. I'm 240lb and this pontoon doesn't appear to even notice me and the gear. Invest in an anchor system. Buddy had premature breakdown of stitching on bottom of pontoon bladders and the manufacturer quickly made it more than right. I'm very pleased with the boat and he is as well.

I appreciate it. I'd hate to spend all that money on a lemon.
