For the past several years we have had an annual gathering of Colorado area fly fishers. We hold it on the Colorado River, just west of Hot Sulphur Springs at the Lone Buck camp grounds. This campground has a permanent outhouse and free tenting/RVing. There is a lot of good public access water nearby. It is a great way to meet folks you have encountered on the Net!
Friday and Saturday nights typically include roaring campfires and live music. This year we'll have at least 2 guitars, a dobro and a mandolin. We're really hoping to pick up a fiddling fly fisher some year!
We call this the Colorado Fly Fishing and Liver Abuse Festival. That is done with tongue in cheek -- mostly. Just like all fly fishing, it tends to attract mostly guys. We do get some wives and significant others most years and have yet to have one complain. But there will be a lot of adult guys and adult beverages present, so I would not describe the event as kid friendly.
It will be held 8/14-16 this year. If you would like more info about the event, post here and I'll find a way to get you the info you need. Hope to see you there!
