I know that Christmas is more than gifts and such but we had a great Xmas ... my son is home for the holidays from Korea had the whole family was here .I even recieved some great gifts one of wich was unexpected ... I'm a snoop... lol Wife found a card catolog cabinet from my grade school and thought I would like to have it for storage of fly tying stuff.. a ton of drawers made of maple wood ... just too cool now I have to make room for it in my tying room .So what did everybody get for X-mas ?

    Mike,

VEE and I fared pretty well in our gift giving and receiving. I got the cam jaws for my Renzetti Traveler that I've been wanting. Man, what a difference they make!

I got VEE a FishPond Tying Travel Bag, the Coyote model. That sure is sweet! Wouldn't mind one of those myself (VEE, that's as much of a hint as I can give). I'm pretty impressed with the quality of their gear that I've seen so far.

A couple of weeks ago I also got a complete Blue Eared Pheasant skin for tying the spey flies I enjoy fishing so much, along with a neck and a saddle of some of Denny Conrad's fine hackle. My favorite is the Dree, the cross between a dun and cree. Looks like Cree but has a dark dun chevron instead of black.

The guys at our local fly shop gave VEE some very small hooks (18 to 22) and she's been tying up a storm since.

I got an inexspensive Cabela'a 8-wt 9' outfit and the book "The Fly Fisherman's Guide to the Meaning of Life" by Peter Kaminsky. Nice rod for the price and the book, which I read in one day is priceless. It is one I will reread.

I'm afraid our Christmas was quiet and uneventful. The kids live out of town and no one was traveling this year

The highlight was a new Sage Xi2...and a new fly box.

    Hi Everyone,

I got a new spey rod and line to match. A nice Reddington Red 13' 8/9 weight. Just wish I could go fishing to try it out, 3 1/2 long months.

    Thanks,
    Alan (salmonguy)

My wife got me the first ever flyfishing related item in 13 yrs of marriage. I too got the FishPond Tying Travel Bag, the Coyote model a total surprise. Hadn't even made mention of wanting a travel tying bag. But I've been tying at a lot of shows lately, gonna love not having to carry all my things in a plastic tub. And I've been bringing tying materials on my fishing trips.
