    Default New fly-fishing converts?

A co-worker's daughter (Jenni) wanted fly-fishing lessons, in preparation for a vacation to Colorado where they plan to try fly-fishing for trout.

I'd been out fishing last night already...and caught another carp on my fly rod...HOORAY! Great fighter!

Anyway...By the time I arrived last night, it was pretty much dark, and then started to rain. We tuffed it out and fished anyway. I gave about 5-10 minutes of instructions/demonstrations (and caught a little bluegill), then Jenni gave it a shot. She did pretty well! Even caught a crappie and a couple of bluegills!!

Her boyfriend Scott had never fly-fished either, and took a couple of turns. He did good, too, and caught a couple of crappies!

Excellent pupils! We had a lot of fun fly-fishing in the dark! Probably not the best conditions to teach/learn under...but maybe they learned to feel the line instead of watch it? ;o)

They are both probably 20 yrs old..certainly not really "kids" anymore, but both were very willing to learn something new! It was just so much fun!

Dave, Fantastic...always great to spread the bug. I had an opportunity to participate in our local metro parks Fishing Camp on Wednesday. I was demonstrating Fly Fishing and Tying to a group of (16) 8-12 year olds. Most of them seemed real interested. One boy had never fly fished but knew a bunch about it like, dry, wet, nymphs, cast the line not the lure, etc. I had a great time. It was supposed to go for an hour...I had to scramble at the end to keep it to 90 minutes.
