Default Casting About for a New Year's Resolution

Christmas is over and it?s New Year?s resolution time. I have resolved that in the first half dozen casting practice sessions of the new year, I will limit it to 30? casts. Each loop should be a perfect parabola with rod, line, leader, and fly perfectly stacked (in plane). No hooking or slicing as the loops unfolds. These are objectives, easier said than done. It?ll be hard to resist the macho thing and to let a few casts fly, but I think it will pay off.

My goal is to lose some weight so I can still fit into my canoe this spring! JGW

Start a work-out regimen culminating in being in good enough shape to trek down and then back up the Neversink Gorge during the Roscoe Fish-In.

With me I find I enjoy casting so much more
within the short ranges. This applies
even more when I am practicing. 15-25' range however, I do admit with heavier lines 8wg & up I sling as much out as I can manage it feels right for me at up to the 65-70'range.

I know I feel like a better caster because of short distance casts during these practice sessions.

    Happy New Year

My new years resolution is to catch at least one fish for every Faol member.

Quit smoking, work out and try to get my resting pulse rate down into at least the 70's.
I'm also bound and determined to keep a fishing log next year (this resolution might be harder to keep than not smoking!)
