Default Biggest Bass of My Life

Today I caught the biggest bass of my life. It was 20 inches long and I caught it on a black and grizzly woolly bugger I tied myself. I'm really luck it got it in because it got itself so buried in weeds I couldn't move it with my 7 wt. and had to hand line it. I think had I not been using a 20 lb test tipped I wouldn't have gotten it in. I have pictures but in my excitement I didn't get any that show the full length of the fish. You can tell it's big but it's hard to tell just how big.
This day will live forever in my memories.

Nicely done! And, on a fly you tied yourself makes it all the better.

Thumbs up Sounds like a great fish!

    Hi Cycler,

You must have had a real fight on your hands. I'm glad that you successfully landed the fish. Be sure to retire the fly and put it some place safe. It will make a great momento. 8T

    Default A Picture

Here is the best picture of my bass. I hope next time I catch a big fish like this I'll be calmer and get a better picture. I am so lucky I got this fish; it could have gotten off when it buried itself in weeds. And it fought so hard. I have caught other big fish, including a 12 lb carp I got on a 12 ft rod, but I had forgotten how hard they pull. And since I was in a kayak and the fish could pull me around made it all the more exciting and difficult. At least I didn't get pulled into a fallen tree which was nearby.

    Hey Cycler

    That's awesome!

I am almost 50 years old and have never caught one that nice!

Bet she/he put a tug on the ole rod...

    Congrats.

I don't want to hijack this post, but I do want to say welcome aboard to jdfogle2. Best site around for fly fishing info and friends.

Nice goin' on that big bass cycler68. That's a dandy!
Where you go is less important than how you take the steps.

Yep, that's a big fish. Amazing how much more exciting it is when something that size eats something you made yourself, isn't it?
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.
